Embarking on an artistic journey has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. At Let’sArtit!, I’ve made it my mission to transform art education into something practical, inspiring, and truly enjoyable.
So much of the art world operates on the belief that you already have the skills—that you either “have it” or you don’t. But I believe anyone can learn to draw and paint with the right guidance, structure, and encouragement.
My Early Love for Art
Ever since I was little, I felt a deep connection to art. While other kids were busy with dolls and games, I’d be raiding the stash of scrap paper from my grandparents’ printing business and sketching for hours.
My mother quickly noticed how much art meant to me. It wasn’t just a hobby—it lit me up inside.
She tried a few different art classes for me, but many of them were more about copying than actually teaching. It took a few tries to find the right kind of classes—ones that focused on real skills. But once I did, I absolutely loved it.
From the age of six all the way through my teens, I went to those classes every week. At first, they were 1.5 hours long, then extended to 2—and I lived for them. Those weekly sessions were my escape.
They were fun, stimulating, and full of purpose. I wasn’t just creating—I was learning how to really draw and paint.
Becoming a Teacher (and Getting It Totally Wrong at First)
Years later, I decided to start teaching. I figured I’d just place some objects in front of my students or walk them through creative projects that included shading and color—and they’d somehow absorb the skills through the process.
But they didn’t.
Instead of being inspired, they were confused and frustrated. They didn’t understand what I wanted from them, and I could feel it in the room. The vibe was off, and I didn’t know how to fix it. What was even more frustrating was knowing that I was a really good artist—so why couldn’t I teach it? Why wasn’t it clicking?
Honestly, I wanted to give up. But we needed the income, and I wasn’t sure what else I could do.
I would spend hours searching Google for something that would help me know how to teach art, but nothing worked.
The Turning Point
Then came the moment that changed everything.
I decided: That’s it. I have to figure this out.
I realized that relying on scattered online tips and copying other teachers’ art projects wasn’t going to cut it. That wasn’t teaching—and it wasn’t giving my students the tools they truly needed.
So I went backwards. I asked myself: What are the actual skills someone needs to draw and paint independently? Not just to follow along with a project, but to be able to sit down with a blank page and create anything they wanted, confidently.
I never draw or paint on my students’ work—and I didn’t want them to ask me to. I wanted them to say, “I want to draw this” or “I want to paint that,” and actually know how to go about it on their own.

Trusting My Gut and Trying Something New
Even then, I wasn’t completely sure this was the way to go. None of the other online teachers were doing it—at least not that I could find. But deep down, I knew I needed to try.
I believed that this was what would give kids and adults true confidence. I knew from my own experience as a child how important it was to feel stimulated and challenged. So I figured out the balance: push the kids, but not so hard that they feel like they can’t succeed.
I started building lessons that were fun, visually exciting, and skill-based—and tested them in class. If I saw the students were engaged and enjoying themselves, I kept it in. If not, I adjusted.
And I kept going.
Eventually, I stopped having them follow me step by step. Instead, I’d demo a project and then give them the space to try it on their own. And that’s when the magic started happening.
Parents began telling me their kids were noticing things in the world around them—details, shadows, shapes—and then drawing them. That meant they weren’t just completing a project; they were thinking like artists. They had the tools, the awareness, and the confidence to apply what they’d learned in their own way.
It was working.
Creating a System That Works for Everyone
I also realized that every single age needs to learn the same fundamentals of art—just on their own level. Whether it’s a child or an adult, the building blocks of drawing and painting are the same. That realization helped me design my projects based on skill level and age group, without compromising on quality or growth.
Having a plan like that also changed everything for me as a teacher. I no longer had to scramble each week wondering what to teach—I knew exactly what the next step was, because I was following a clear path of skill progression. Each class had a purpose, and every lesson built on the last.
I also became a popular art teacher with booked up classes, as parents realised how much my art classes were doing for their child.
Let’sArtit Today
With this mindset, I rebuilt my entire approach from the ground up. I developed a curriculum that breaks big skills into simple, manageable pieces. Over the years, I’ve seen hundreds of students—from young children to adults—light up as they start to “get it,” create beautiful work, and build real confidence.
Some of the students I’ve trained have even gone on to teach their own art classes—in the US and the UK. Seeing that ripple effect, knowing that the method I created is helping others share the gift of art, is one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.
And now, I get to support even more aspiring artists through our signature online art courses designed to give you or your child a strong, exciting start on your creative path.
